INX Media case Live Update: P Chidambaram to Stay in CBI Custody till 26 August |NewsX

Speaking on Chidambaram's arrest in the INX Media case, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said "the way his matter has been handled is very depressing, very bad and sad as well". Not talking about legality, the West Bengal CM said sometimes the process is incorrect. Chidambaram is a senior politician, he is a former finance minister and home minister, he could have been dealt with differently, she told journalists at Digha.



The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday removed Investigating Officer in the controversial INX Media case, reports said. Speaking on former finance minister P Chidambaram's arrest by the CBI in INX Media case, Union Minister of State for Home, G Kishan Reddy, said the law will take its own course. The court takes decisions as per law and the party and the government has no role in it...It's the court, not the government that decides where to put the people who indulge in corruption, Reddy added.



INX media case: The troubles are increasing for the former Finance Minister and Congress stalwart P Chidambaram as Supreme Court rejected his request for an immediate hearing on his petition for anticipatory bail which was earlier rejected by the Delhi High Court in the INX Media case.

In the Supreme Court senior lawyers Kapil Sibal, Salman Khurshid and Vivek Tankha were presenting P Chidambaram’s request but they couldn’t mention the reason for urgent hearing of plea before CJI as he is busy in the day-to-day hearing on Ayodhya case.
