Hey everyone, I know it's been a long time since my last video. Many of you who have followed my journey over the past few years know that physical illness was a large reason I stepped away from YouTube and the insane drama that has cast a shadow over the beauty community as of late. I've been so sad to see what's happened to this industry. The call-outs. The manufactured fights and calculated takedowns. The greed and dishonesty and narcissism. I got into this industry to make the world a more beautiful and INCLUSIVE place...but have felt like a large part of the influencer community has created an impossible standard of beauty that even other makeup artists can't deviate from.

I needed time away to feed my soul after cancer. I saw the world -- on tour in 21 countries and teaching workshops on 5 continents. I poured my heart into creative projects like this one...not for the money, but for the pure love of creating something that's mine. Something new. Something I could have sleepless nights thinking about - and for this product...I did. AND I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT.

Two major brands before this offered collabs. The first dissolved when I was diagnosed with cancer...and the brand has since ended all ties with me, which was disappointing to say the least. The second collab sat on the table for a year and had countless setbacks because of corporate humdrum. There was no magic. I've come close to taking this leap - my first collaboration - for so long, but it was never right. I've worked with LA-based indie brand Stilazzi since their inception and I love their passion for creating great products. I love their excitement for every campaign we create together...and that's why this felt so natural. They showed me their STELLAR and SPELLBOUND shadow palettes a few months before I shot the campaign and fell in love - and their existing palettes were the framework I used for DɅRKROOM. Half warm. Half cool. Great on fair to deep skin tones. Matte, metallic, and shift textures. I wanted a staple palette that had all of my essential colors for every face that I have the pleasure of working on.

All of the shadow colors will be revealed on my Instagram over the next few weeks, and each shade was inspired by a place I visited on my world tour. Shades like "Solar" which remind me of morning walks along the Siene, "Bondi" which was named after the beach in Australia, and "Santa Cruz" was named after an island in my favorite place on Earth, the Galapagos. I haven't shut my eyes in 18 months on tour -- I'm truly grateful for my life and I'm living each day to it's fullest potential.

The campaign for DɅRKROOM was my baby. I chose the studio (you may recognize it from "The Dark Knight" or Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" video), the wardrobe styling (a brand called "Demobaza" was a huge part of this), audio engineering, animation, editing, direction, and of course makeup and photography...all mine. This has been a labor of love!

The name “DɅRKROOM” has so much meaning for me. The obvious reason it works is because I’m a makeup artist and photographer…and the darkroom is where photographers use light to realize incredible works of art. In that spirit, the DɅRKROOM Eyeshadow Palette is all about contrast. The darkroom also reminds me of my humble beginnings before I even knew what I wanted to do with my life - and certainly before any level of success. But for those of you who have followed my journey and watched me struggle with illness and the hardship that came with it, you know how my life and my world has opened up. I was in a very dark place…but so much beauty came out of it. I’m grateful for all my failures, physical struggles, and even the product collaborations that never saw the light of day - because they led to this.

DARKROOM is a reminder of my past, an embrace of my present, and a glimpse into what’s to come. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Thanks to everyone who supported my vision and made this campaign possible. Geno Foster captured the incredible video for this and Jessica Michel created tutorials in English and Spanish (coming soon), Eugene Washington, Courtney Paige Nelson, and Juliette Nadine - you brought the looks to life! Jay Artistry and Clyde Haygood created the amazing hair looks... And of course…Brian and Brielle Esper from Stilazzi for taking my (many) calls with crazy ideas. Love you. Makeup, photography, direction, animations, editing, sound design, wardrobe styling, and creative direction by me.
